Which other articles and so on has the author used or quoted? If the author writes about something other than their own personal experiences, they must have acquired knowledge from another source. It is important to show this, so that you as a reader will be able to critically evaluate the resources. Where have the author has chosen to get their knowledge also tells you something about how they view the subject and which choices they make. Does the author reference the sources in a bibliography? In order for you to be able to verify the sources, whether they are physical books or webpages, they must be collected in a list of some sort.
