Illern - Subject and Perspective

How does the material cover the subject?

Sometimes all you need is an overview of the subject; sometimes you want to cover several aspects of a subject in great detail. The material you choose should suit your information needs.

Are the facts right?

It is naturally easier to be certain as to what is correct when dealing with a subject that you yourself have knowledge about. You can also use encyclopaedias to compare facts with the material you have managed to find.

Is the text objective or does the author put forward his or her own views?

This can be difficult to judge, as no view is entirely objective. Depending on subject matter, even subjective material can be of interest.

Is the material unique or are you finding similar or better information from other sources?

All sources are not suitable for all types of questions. You should think about the best, fastest and simplest way to answer your specific question. Compare with the chapter Types of Searches in module 1.
